In the pictures above, we have the picture of the water cycle Dr. Davis asked to draw for the engage part of the 5 E's lesson plan in blue/purple we have the original drawing and in red we have a more detailed and accurate drawing of the water cycle. In the middle picture, its the 5 E lesson plan template or graphic organizer for the water cycle lesson and the last picture relates to the water cycle activity that had the students become a water droplet and then travel around as a water droplet. It was a wonderful activity because I was moving, reading, and writing in the activity which allowed me to really make a strong connection with what Dr. Davis was trying to get across to us. This connection makes me think about the opportunities I've had to have such an impactful lesson and yet I haven't seized the moment or better yet purposely thought through a lesson.
Have you ever learned a topic or area covered in school, forgotten it, and then had to relearn it all over again? This is me in teaching mathematics two this week, we've been hashing out misconceptions in 3D and 2D shapes and attempting to learn the new categories some objects have been placed in. Or if you were particularly bad at geometry and didn't learn it the first time round, you are re-learning it and feeling ridiculous while your classmates breeze through it. I know the feeling of being uncomfortable is where we do our best learning and that I'll have insight into where my kids could get confused, however I don't enjoy this current block on my learning.
And that's all for this week,
Ms. Brookes
